One dog dies, another rescued after house near Jupiter beach catches fire

JUPITER – One family’s dog was rescued but another one died in a house fire Monday afternoon in Jupiter, Palm Beach County Fire Rescue reports.

Crews responded at about 3:30 p.m. to reports of a fire at a home inside The River at The Bluffs development, off U.S. 1 south of Carlin Park.

The first arriving firefighters reported smoke showing from the residence and entered to find the source. They were advised that two family dogs were inside and began efforts to free the animals.

The pets were found and brought outdoors, but one died at the scene, said Capt. Albert Borroto, spokesman for Fire Rescue.

The fire has been extinguished. The cause is under investigation, Borroto said.
